Egyptians loved Makeup
Did you know both Egyptian men and women used to wear makeup? Their eye shades were mostly made from copper and lead. They also used to apply red and ocher to their cheeks and lips. They had a belief that makeup had some great healing power.
Egyptians did not ride Camels
Camels came in use until the end of the dynastic age. Before that, they used donkeys for burden work and boats for a means of transport.
Egyptians believed in many Gods
More than 1500 deities were worshiped by the ancient Egyptians. From dangers to simple household chores they had gods for everything. To keep their lives in balance, each god was worshiped individually. Some of their famous Egyptian gods were Horus, Isis, Anubis, Set, Ra, and Osiris.
Importance of the Afterlife
Egyptians had a strong belief in the afterlife; they believed that the soul traveled to the afterlife. They also believed in the rebirth of the soul. They had several rituals designed especially to get a successful and peaceful afterlife.
Egyptians invented Toothpaste
Egyptians enamel would wear out quickly, so to keep their teeth clean and healthy they made toothbrushes from wooden twigs. And to clean out the germs they made toothpaste that used to contain burnt eggshells, pumice, ox hoof powder and ashes.
Egyptian Hieroglyphs
Ancient Egyptians had more than 700 hieroglyphs, instead of letters, these were little pictures. Sometimes the writing would take months but it cannot be denied that it was extremely beautiful. Egyptians did not use any spaces in the words or any punctuation like common grammar.
Men and Women were treated as Equals
In the eyes of Egyptian law, both women and men were treated as equals. Women were allowed to earn, inherit and sell/buy a property. Widowed and divorced women raised their children themselves without the help of any male guardian.
Pharaohs loved playing Games
Ancient Egyptians loved playing games with their pals. One of the games known as Senet was played for over 2000 years. It was a board game. Today, people throw dice, but back then they used to throw sticks to see how many squares to move your piece forward on the board.
Pharaohs were unhealthy and overweight
The reason the majority of Egyptian rulers were overweight was that they were regularly offered delicious junk food by the Egyptians. The food was full of saturated fats, plus they drank a lot of beer and ate a lot of bread with high sugars.
