More about Giza

There are three main Pyramids here, which were built in the 4th Dynasty (circa 4650 B.C). The Pyramids of Ancient Egypt were built as tombs for Kings (and Queens), and it was the exclusive privilege to have a Pyramid tomb. However, this tradition only applied in the Old and Middle Kingdoms. Today there are more than 115 Pyramids in Egypt; the most famous ones are those at Giza.

More about Karnak Discover Karnak

This great Temple of Amon Ra was known during the Middle Kingdom period as Ipt-Swt, which means the Selected Spot. It was also called Pr-Imn, which means the House of Amon. The name Al-Karnak in Arabic was derived from Karnak, which means fortified village, probably because the Arabs found many Temples and buildings in the area when they entered it for first time.

It was a really amazing day on my short layover in Cairo. We managed to see the Great Pyramids, the Citadel and the Egyptian Museum all in one day. Transportation was very well organized and the guide was very knowledgeable, sharing all the interesting historical facts packed in great storytelling. They knew all the good photo spots and helped us to take great pictures. Will definitely go with them again in the future when I come back to Egypt!!

Our Cairo & Giza tour with Sam was impeccable and impressive in many ways. There was a great balance of historic facts and fun stories. Many guides in Egypt just list facts that you can get yourself out of a reference book. The key to an excellent local guide is being knowledgeable but not imposing. His tour was engaging and relatable, which made listening very enjoyable. He kept us on schedule but made allowances for everyone’s interests. We highly recommend Egypt Eye Tours and hope you will experience incredible Egypt as well. Special thanks to Lorraine for referring us, she was totally right!

Had a great day exploring Cairo with this great company! They were very professional but also relaxed and fun to be around. Got answers to all my questions and I really love that we didnt just rush through the whole day, but they made sure you had the time you wanted at every stop. They told us many times that this tour was for us to be happy, and we really were! Big bonus was that the guide was a really good photographer and had the patience to take our pictures all the time
